About This Spot

Ram’s Food Homebush West sits quietly on Henley Road, inviting those in the know with the unmistakable promise of authentic Sri Lankan and South Indian flavors. The moment you pull up, you notice the casual buzz—families and longtime locals dropping by for takeaway, the occasional line forming with patient anticipation. It’s not a place of frills or fancy decor; instead, it offers something equally valuable—a straightforward, no-nonsense approach where food is the focus and every bite reflects comfort and tradition.

Inside, the pace is steady but unhurried, making it feel like a neighborhood ritual rather than a hurried pit stop. The friendly exchanges between staff and patrons create a sense of familiarity, a shared appreciation for meals that are made with care. This is a spot where you can take your time deciding between the gentle, steaming string hoppers or the satisfyingly crisp lamb and chicken rolls, each carrying a memory of home in their layers of spice and texture.

More than just a takeaway, Ram’s Food feels like a small doorway into the culinary rhythms of Sri Lanka and southern India—whether it’s through the richly aromatic curries or the enticing array of short eats and desserts. You might find yourself lingering over the fragrant sambar or the indulgently creamy payasam, while outside, the steady hum of cars and passerby reminds you that this is a humble gem nestled in the heart of Homebush West.

The charm here isn’t about novelty but about authenticity and consistency—meals that are thoughtfully prepared, accessible, and satisfying without fuss. It’s a place where locals return again and again to reconnect with familiar flavors, and newcomers find an honest introduction to a vibrant corner of culinary heritage.

This is a takeaway that we've been coming to for a number of years for Puttu, Idiyappams and Vadai... Value 4 money is spot on interms of both standard and taste...infact their prices are verrrry reasonabke for the food they serve... Until today my only pet peeve with Rams used to be that they were difficult to get on the fone to order prior as most of the times we used to go there and walk away dizappointed as they've run out of what we wanted... Imagine my surprise today when I promptly got a call back on my missed call... Appreciate the measures put in place.. DHANYAWADHAHA...

Takeaway only restaurant Also sells assortment of snacks and frozen food / dessert. I love their deep fried rolls and curries. Plenty of parking just outside

Tried string hoppers koththu and roti koththu. Loved the string hopper koththu. Plenty of Sri lankan short eats and tried all of them. Very well priced and worth for every single penny spent. In one instant the susium we tried made and bit sick not sure if it was cooked in bad oil or something not right. Overall happy with cooked food.

I'm pleased to have found this place. Always busy, queues out the door, very basic decor - it's a takeaway joint - but the food is interesting. The lamb rolls are crisp to bite into and so meaty and flavourful (building up my spice tolerance!). Had a boneless chicken curry + veg rice for $8.. great value, nice variety on the plate for 1 meal. Strongly recommend you take another reviewer's advice and try the kothu rotty! I did! The dish was new to me and I enjoyed it. Has a good selection of sweets also. The cashiers are busy but are kind enough to answer questions if you don't know what things are. I'm slowly working my way through the menu and will definitely be back

The food is good and great value for the money we pay. They have a big variety of dishes at a very reasonable price. I come to this place every week to buy some curries, rolls, cutlets, lump rice, and kottu-enough for last for 5 or 6 meals. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is good. However, you can't dine in; the only option is for you to take away. I think that is completely fine. This location is very easy to access, around a 1 to 2-minute walk from the Flemington railway station.
